Police Activity Report for August/September

  • 2 pedestrian stops
  • 1 property check
  • 7 traffic citations

MPD conducted a traffic watch during the month with the speed monitoring trailer and issued 7 warnings and 6 tickets. Overall, it was a very light two months for The Estates at Dove Run, which is fantastic news.

Signs
We are still looking into obtaining neighborhood watch signs for the area. There may be a possibility to work with other neighborhoods around Middletown to reduce cost by ordering signs in bulk. Right now we are looking at obtaining 10 signs for various streets around the neighborhood.

The Middletown Police Department needs your help
If you see suspicious vehicles driving through the neighborhood, parking around the drainage ponds, don't feel you are bothering the police by reporting it. Call the non emergency number 302-573-2800 and report it. The same goes for pedestrians that appear to be loitering - if you have to think twice about it, call it in and let the MPD investigate.

Also, trucks over 2 axles are not permitted to drive through The Estates at Dove Run unless they are on local deliveries. Several reports have come in regarding tractor trailers driving through the neighborhood and then using the Super G parking lot as a truck stop. The Super G parking lot is private property owned by Capano Mgmt and it is their responsibility to enforce their parking rules, however residents can report tractor trailer traffic within the neighborhood and can also report noise violations if the trucks are running their generators after noise ordinances take effect. The Neighborhood Watch Committee is in contact with Capano Management and working to install signs in this area to keep trucks and other vehicles from using this area as a parking lot.

Numerous complaints have been reported of Middletown High School students crossing the street near the Friendly's restaurant. This is not a designated crosswalk and is significantly dangerous. Chief Tobin of the MPD has advised us that many of these students reside in The Estates at Dove Run and are students that are provided with bus transportation. These students are considered to be jaywalking, which is covered under existing ordinances and can be enforced. For the safety of the students and that of the drivers on Rte 299, please ask your children to either take the provided bus or to cross at the designated cross walks where the county has provided crossing guards.

Neighborhood Watch Committee
We have named our official Neighborhood Watch Committee. Please join me in thanking and congratulating the following:

  • Barbara Cresta
  • Edmundo Ocalagan
  • Robert Stout
