DelDOT’s contractor, A-Del Construction, is preparing to begin construction on the major Route 299 project that will widen Route 299 from Route 1 to Cleaver Farm Road to four lanes, and add a center left turn lane from Cleaver Farm Road to Catherine Street. A-Del intends to begin construction on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, starting with water and sewer installation along the northbound side of Brick Mill Rd. and along the eastbound side of SR 299, just west of Silver Lake Rd. This utility relocation activity will be off alignment work to begin the contract. The entire project is expected to be completed by fall 2023, and DelDOT will soon be launching a project website that will provide up-to-date information on the project’s progress and phase work that will require short-term detours. DelDOT will provide a notification when the website is launched.
